Tomorrow I'll ride out for three weeks on a trip very similar to two previous motorcycle rides ~ Vancouver Island in Canada. In 2009 when I last did this, friend Gwen sent me a hand written quote from Sir Richard Burton that has been on my refrigerator inspiring me to this "next" trip. Reading about Sir Richard is an inspiration to say the least -- his code of conduct and beliefs.
Of the gladdest moments, methinks, in human life, is the departing upon a distant journey into unknown lands. Shaking off with one effort the fetters of habit, the leaden weight of routine, the cloak of many cares, and the slavery of Civilization, Man feels once more happy. The blood flows with the fast circulation of youth, excitement gives a new vigor to the muscles, and a sense of sudden freedom adds an inch to the stature. Afresh dawns the morn of life, again the bright world is beautiful to the eye, and the glorious face of Nature gladdens the soul. A journey, in fact, appeals to Imagination, to Memory, to Hope—the sister Graces of our moral being.
Sir Richard Francis Burton, Zanzibar 1856

Expertly tied wrapped I might add!
All of my cousins are returning to Vancouver Island and buying land near Parksville. It's beautiful there and sometimes I wish I was joining them.
