The allure of lighthouses

"Inside my empty bottle I was constructing a lighthouse while all others were making ships."
— Charles Simic

On my way down the coast last Saturday, I stopped at my favorite lighthouse in Point Arena and spent a bit of time looking around and climbing up the stairs for a view. The history {like many lighthouses} is very interesting of course and somehow it is peaceful and interesting to be in one of these unique edifices.
